Official jail lookup
How to search Brazoria County jail and arrest records
Open the Sheriff’s Detention Center page
Use the county-operated jail-record option rather than a paid third-party name-search website.
Open the official Detention Center
Select Jail Record Search
Follow the county page to the current inmate and booking lookup.
Start with the last name
Add the first name or middle name only when the result list is too broad.
Try alternate name forms
Search maiden names, hyphenated names, suffixes, aliases and spelling variations.
Open every plausible result
Do not assume that the first matching name belongs to the person you are researching.
Match the date of birth or age
Use a second identifier with the name before relying on the booking.
Record the booking information
Save the booking number, inmate identifier, booking date, arrest date and facility status.
Identify the arresting agency
The report may belong to the Sheriff, Pearland Police, Alvin Police, Lake Jackson Police, Angleton Police or another agency.
Read every charge and hold
One booking may include several allegations, warrants, bond entries or outside-agency holds.
Search the correct court
Use the County Clerk for misdemeanor cases and the District Clerk for felony cases.

Texas state-prison search
Use TDCJ only after transfer to state custody
Use TDCJ for
- A person currently in Texas state-prison custody.
- The TDCJ number and assigned institution.
- Projected release and parole information when available.
- State-prison mail, visit and account routing.
Do not use TDCJ alone for
- A recent Brazoria County jail booking.
- A person awaiting trial in county custody.
- The formal indictment or court disposition.
- Every prior Texas arrest.
Search the TDCJ number when known
A state correctional number is safer than a common name.
Otherwise search the legal name
Use sex, race and birth date to narrow possible matches.
Record the assigned unit
State-prison mail, visits and communication depend on the institution.
Return to the Brazoria County judgment
The TDCJ locator does not replace the official court record.

Texas statewide history
Use Texas DPS criminal-history records correctly
A Texas DPS public name search is not fingerprint-confirmed. Similar names and birth information can produce possible matches that belong to another person.
Public name-based search
- Searches Texas public criminal-history information.
- Current charge: one $1 credit per initial search.
- The system automatically expands name combinations.
- Opening multiple rap sheets from that search does not add another charge.
- Save or print the returned result.
Personal fingerprint review
- Used to verify your own Texas criminal history.
- More accurate than a name-only search.
- Requires fingerprints through the approved process.
- Needed when disputing a name-search match.
- Provides a stronger basis for error correction.
Decide whether statewide information is necessary
Use the free county jail and court searches when the question concerns one Brazoria County event.
Enter the most accurate legal name
Include birth information to reduce unrelated matches.
Review the match explanation
DPS places the closest match first and indicates which details matched.
Save the response
Search history retains what was searched, but not necessarily the complete returned rap-sheet result.
Use fingerprints when accuracy is disputed
Complete a personal review rather than arguing from a name-only match.
A DPS name search can both miss a person’s record and match a different person. Fingerprint-based review is the most accurate way to determine whether the state record belongs to you.
Criminal-history correction
Correct an inaccurate Brazoria County or Texas record
Identify where the error appears
Compare the jail booking, police report, County Clerk case, District Clerk case and Texas DPS history.
Save the incorrect result
Record the source, date, booking number, report number and cause number.
Obtain the controlling record
Use a certified dismissal, judgment, amended order, agency correction or identity document.
Correct the originating agency first
A police identity or arrest error may need agency correction before DPS can update it.
Correct the court record when necessary
Contact the County Clerk for misdemeanor data and District Clerk for felony data.
Submit certified proof to DPS
The Error Resolution Unit requires supporting certified documents.
Use the separate identity-misuse process when applicable
Identity theft or false use of your name is different from an ordinary clerical error.
Recheck every connected system
One correction may not automatically update the jail page, court index and private databases.
Correction is not expunction. Correct the record when the information is factually wrong. Seek expunction or nondisclosure when the record is accurate but may qualify for legal restriction.
Texas record relief
Expunge or restrict an eligible Brazoria County arrest
Expunction
Qualifying arrest and case records are removed or destroyed according to Chapter 55 and the signed court order.
Order of nondisclosure
Qualifying records are restricted from ordinary public disclosure but remain available to authorized agencies.
Situations that may require eligibility review
Arrest occurred but no charge was filed
Charge was dismissed
Person was acquitted
Another person used the individual’s identity
Qualifying deferred adjudication was completed
Applicable waiting period has expired
No disqualifying conviction or related charge applies
A statutory automatic process may apply
Collect the complete record
Obtain the jail booking, arrest report, court cause number and final disposition.
Obtain your Texas DPS history
Review all Texas arrests and outcomes before preparing the petition.
Identify misdemeanor or felony jurisdiction
Determine which Brazoria County clerk and court handled the case.
Check expunction eligibility
Review Chapter 55 requirements for the specific arrest and outcome.
Check nondisclosure eligibility separately
Deferred adjudication does not automatically mean expunction is available.
Prepare every required respondent
The petition must correctly identify agencies that hold the arrest or case records.
File in the proper Brazoria County court
Use the court and clerk required by the original case and selected remedy.
Pay the filing fee or request a waiver
Ask the clerk for the current civil filing and service costs.
Attend the hearing when ordered
Bring certified dispositions and documents supporting eligibility.
Obtain certified copies of the signed order
Keep copies for the court, arresting agency, Sheriff, DPS and background-report disputes.
Verify every public system afterward
