Find a Brazos County Arrest and Verify the Court Outcome
Brazos County uses one Judicial Records portal for jail and court searches, but the booking, police report and final court disposition remain different records.
Start with Smart Search, save the person’s official identifiers, identify the arresting agency and then follow the misdemeanor or felony case through the Brazos County District Clerk.

Arrest does not mean conviction. A jail charge records an allegation associated with arrest or intake. Prosecutors can decline, reduce or change a charge, and the court can dismiss the case or find the defendant not guilty.

DETENTION + JUSTICE WEB
Is the person in jail or previously booked?
Use Smart Search for people currently or previously recorded in the Brazos County Detention Center.
Best for booking identity, jail history, case links and current detention research.
ARRESTING AGENCY
What did the officer report?
Request the incident or arrest report from Brazos Sheriff, Bryan Police, College Station Police, Texas A&M Police or another agency that created it.
The jail does not automatically own the police report.
DISTRICT CLERK
What happened to the criminal charge?
Brazos County District Clerk maintains documents for both misdemeanor and felony criminal cases.
Use for filed charges, orders, dismissal, judgment, sentence and certified proof.
Best search sequence: Smart Search → verify the person → save SO/booking and case numbers → identify arresting agency → read court case → request only the missing police or certified court document.
Official jail search
Search current and past Brazos County jail records
Brazos County Sheriff directs users to the county Judicial Records Search. The Sheriff’s instructions say Smart Search can be used for a person currently in jail or a person who has previously been in the Brazos County Detention Center.
Select Smart Search
Do not choose Search Hearings when your first goal is to locate a person or criminal case.
Enter the person’s legal name
Start broadly when the middle name, suffix or spelling is uncertain.
Open every plausible result
Common names can belong to several different people or several bookings of the same person.
Refine the search when necessary
Brazos County states that Smart Search can also be refined with case numbers, case type or judgments.
Save the official identifiers
Record the SO number, booking or jail information and each court case number shown.
Separate each arrest event
One person can have several unrelated Brazos County cases and jail admissions.
Read every linked case
One booking may involve several criminal charges or warrants.
Check the hearing schedule
Return to the portal and choose Search Hearings for the next scheduled court event.
Call Booking when the arrest is extremely recent
New intake, fingerprinting, medical screening and computer entry may not be complete.
Booking: 979-361-4811
Judicial records
Find the filed charges and next Brazos County hearing
Important local rule: Brazos County District Clerk—not the County Clerk—maintains filings and documents for both misdemeanor and felony criminal cases.
Open Judicial Records Search
Use the same official Brazos County portal.
Open Justice Web
Choose Smart Search for the case
Search by the case number whenever one was obtained from the jail record.
Otherwise search the party name
Verify the person carefully before combining a court record with a jail booking.
Identify misdemeanor versus felony
Brazos County Courts at Law handle misdemeanor criminal matters while District Courts handle felony cases.
Find the initiating charge
Review the complaint, information or indictment when publicly available.
Read later filings
Charges can be amended, reduced, dismissed or reorganized after booking.
Locate the newest court event
Look for arraignment, plea, motion, trial, dismissal, judgment or sentencing entries.
Use Search Hearings for a court date
Select location, hearing type, search type, criteria and date range.
Order the actual document when needed
Online information is useful for research, but formal proof may require a certified disposition or judgment.

Troubleshooting
No Brazos County arrest record found?
The person is still being booked
Intake includes identification, fingerprints, photographs, property inventory, medical screening and computer entry.
The search is too narrow
Remove the middle name or other optional criteria and search the legal surname again.
The name is different
Try an alias, maiden name, compound surname or suffix.
The person was released quickly
Search Smart Search for the historical jail event and then look for the court case.
A different county holds the person
Search the county where the person was actually booked.
The arresting agency has the report
A Bryan, College Station or Texas A&M police report will not become a Sheriff report merely because the jail housed the person.
No case was filed yet
Prosecutor review or court data entry may still be pending.
The record is restricted
Juvenile, expunged, sealed or otherwise confidential information may not be publicly available.
Missing-booking call script
I am trying to confirm the booking status of [full legal name], date of birth [date]. The arrest may have occurred on [date] through [agency]. Can you confirm whether the person is being processed, currently held, released, transferred or listed under another SO or booking number?
Arrest-to-court lifecycle
What happens after a Brazos County arrest?
Police or Sheriff incident
The arresting agency creates the incident, arrest and investigative records.
Detention Center intake
Jail staff complete booking, criminal-history checks, fingerprinting, photographing, property inventory and medical screening.
Magistration

The County Attorney handles misdemeanor prosecution while the District Attorney prosecutes felony matters.
Criminal filing
Brazos County District Clerk maintains the documents for both misdemeanor and felony criminal cases.
Pretrial proceedings
The case can include hearings, bond changes, discovery, motions, amended charges and plea negotiations.
Final disposition
Each count may end in dismissal, acquittal, plea, conviction, judgment or another order.
Correction or record relief
Wrong information can be challenged, and an eligible arrest may later qualify for an expunction or another form of relief under Texas law.

Date of the record when known
Aliases or additional identifying information
Case numbers when already known

Warrant verification
Check a possible Brazos County warrant safely
The Sheriff pages reviewed do not provide a separate public name-only warrant database comparable to the jail Smart Search. Use the criminal court record first and confirm current warrant status directly with the issuing court or Sheriff.
Search the person in Justice Web
Look for the criminal case connected to the possible warrant.
Use the case number
This reduces the chance of confusing people with similar names.
Read entries in chronological order
A warrant can later be served, recalled, withdrawn or otherwise resolved.
Check the latest hearing information
A later appearance may have changed the warrant status.

Use a lawyer when the warrant concerns you
Counsel can advise about appearance, surrender, bond and court options.
Fraud warning: Do not pay an unexpected warrant demand through gift cards, cryptocurrency, QR codes or an unverified payment link.
Bond & release
Understand Brazos County cash, surety and PR bonds
Surety bond
A licensed bondsman posts the required bond. Brazos County requires the bondsman to be eligible through its Bail Bond Board.
Cash bond
The full amount is posted using the county’s accepted cash or card process.
PR bond
A judge may authorize release without requiring payment of the bond amount.
Confirm the exact person
Have the legal name, DOB, SO number and court case number ready.
Identify every active charge and hold
One bond may not clear another charge, warrant or outside detainer.
Call the Detention Center before paying
Confirm the current amount and bond type.
Bonds: 979-361-4800
For surety bond, use an approved bondsman
Brazos County states that a bondsman not on the county-approved list cannot post bail for a Detention Center inmate.
Ask the bondsman for the fee in writing
Bondsmen are independent businesses; the Sheriff notes their fee cannot exceed the full bail amount.
For cash bond, prepare the exact amount
The Sheriff states that exact cash or the approved credit/debit process may be used.
Bring valid state-issued identification
The person posting a cash bond must provide identification.
Complete the bond in one transaction
The Sheriff’s instructions specify the full bond amount in one transaction.
Keep the receipt
The release staff issues proof needed for a later cash-bond refund.
Handle the refund after case disposition
Cash-bond refunds are processed through the District Clerk, less applicable court processing charges.
Bond call script
I am calling about [full legal name], SO or booking number [number]. Please confirm every current charge, the bond type and amount for each case, every outside hold, and the accepted payment method before I arrange payment.

Enter accurate account information.
Select Brazos County
Do not select a similarly named facility.
Match the inmate carefully
Use the legal name and SO identifier.
Select the correct service
Telephone, electronic messaging, video visitation and trust services are separate features.
Keep the payment confirmation
Save the provider account, inmate identifier and transaction record.
Assume ordinary inmate telephone calls and electronic messages can be monitored or recorded. Do not use ordinary family communication for confidential attorney-client discussions.
Commissary & trust funds
Add money without confusing the jail’s service providers
Brazos County currently references more than one inmate-service system. Verify whether you are funding commissary, telephone, messaging, video visitation or another account before paying.
Commissary
The county Detention Center page links users to Tiger Commissary for online inmate-commissary deposits.
Phone / communication
The Sheriff’s phone and commissary page identifies Smart Communications and SmartInmate for family payment and communication support.
Money-order questions
Call the Detention Center Inmate Trust Fund line before mailing a money order.
Verify the SO number
A wrong identifier can send funds to the wrong account.
Choose the purpose
Decide whether the money is for commissary, phone, messaging or video visitation.
Use only the provider linked by Brazos County
Avoid search-engine advertisements and unofficial payment services.
Review the fee before confirming
Provider transaction charges can differ from the amount actually credited to the inmate.
Save the transaction number
Keep it until the inmate confirms receipt.
Inmate property
Recover personal property after a Brazos County booking
The Sheriff states that a person being booked may tell the booking officer that they want to release property. The recipient must be present in the release lobby while the inmate is still in booking for that immediate property-release process.
Have the inmate’s legal name and SO number
Property staff must identify the correct booking.
Ask whether a scheduled release is required
The procedure differs once the immediate booking window has ended.
Bring identification
Confirm the accepted ID before leaving home.
Do not assume all property is releasable
Evidence, contraband or property held by another agency can follow different procedures.
State prison transfer
When to switch from Brazos County Jail to TDCJ search
Use Brazos Justice Web when
- The person was recently arrested.
- The person is awaiting court locally.
- You need a previous Brazos jail admission.
- You need the local criminal case.
Use TDCJ when
- The person was transferred to Texas state correctional custody.
- You need the current TDCJ number.
- You need the current state facility.
- You need state-custody notification information.
The TDCJ search accepts a name, SID number or current TDCJ number. It is a correctional-custody search, not a substitute for the Brazos County criminal court judgment.
Statewide Texas history
Use Texas DPS when Brazos County alone is not enough
DPS name search
- First and last name are required.
- Middle or maiden name is optional.
- Date of birth can narrow the result.
- Current charge is one $1 search credit per search.
- Additional automated name variations are included in that search charge.
Fingerprint personal review
- Use when reviewing your own Texas criminal history.
- Fingerprints provide stronger identity confirmation.
- Use when disputing a name-based result.
- DPS directs applicants to its personal-review fingerprint process.
Create the appropriate public DPS account
Do not use the restricted secure site unless you are an authorized organization.
Purchase search credits
Each credit currently costs $1.
Enter the legal first and last name
Do not substitute nicknames or initials.
Add the middle or maiden name
Include it when known.
Add the complete birth date
A full DOB narrows the search.
Review why each result matched
DPS places the closest match first.
Save the result immediately
Keep documentation when the search is needed for later verification.
DPS currently publishes an additional 2.25% fee per credit plus a $0.25 transaction fee when credits are purchased by credit card.
Name matches are not fingerprint matches. DPS warns that users are responsible for confirming that a criminal-history result actually belongs to the person being researched.
DPS Crime Records assistance:
512-424-2474
Use the criminal-history inquiry option for personal-review and Secure/Public Site questions.
Record correction
Fix an inaccurate Brazos County or Texas criminal record
Identify which system is wrong
Compare the jail search, police report, criminal court case and DPS history.
Save the incorrect result
Record the date viewed, URL, SO number, report number and case number.
Obtain the controlling document
This may be the original police record, dismissal, judgment or certified disposition.
Correct the originating agency
A police-data error starts with the police agency; a court disposition error starts with the court record.
Use fingerprint personal review for DPS disputes
DPS directs people disputing a name-based criminal-history result to personal review using fingerprints.
Explain the correction precisely
Identify the wrong field, the correct value and the document proving it.
Recheck every connected system
A correction at one agency may not immediately update another government or private database.
Correction is different from expunction. A correction changes inaccurate information. Expunction is legal relief affecting an otherwise accurate arrest record.
Texas expunction
Clear an eligible Brazos County arrest record
Eligibility for expunction is controlled by Texas law and depends on the exact arrest, charge and disposition. Do not assume a dismissed charge automatically qualifies.
Collect every identifier
Obtain the arrest date, arresting agency, SO number, DPS tracking information and every court case number.
Obtain the final disposition
Order the dismissal, acquittal, judgment or other controlling document from the District Clerk.
Check legal eligibility
Brazos County identifies the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure provisions governing expunction.
Identify every agency holding the record
The petition must accurately identify record custodians that should receive the order.
Include the local arresting agency
This may be the Sheriff, Bryan Police, College Station Police or Texas A&M University Police.
Include applicable statewide systems
Brazos County publishes expunction contacts for DPS, TDCJ, TCIC, OCA and other agencies.
Pay applicable filing and service charges
The District Clerk currently publishes a $25 certified-mail expunction service fee; other filing charges depend on the proceeding.
Obtain the signed order
Keep certified copies before records become unavailable.
Allow the statutory processing period
Brazos County says the clerk waits at least 60 days after a valid order before expunging designated records.
Expect processing to take longer in some cases
The county states that the clerk has from 60 days up to one year to complete the designated expunction work.
Understand a prosecutor objection
If the clerk timely receives a prosecutor objection to early destruction, designated county offices must wait until the first anniversary of the order.
Local agencies Brazos County lists for expunction service
County criminal justice
- Brazos County Sheriff
- District Clerk
- County Clerk
- District Attorney
- County Attorney
- County probation
Local police and courts
- Bryan Police Department
- College Station Police Department
- Texas A&M University Police
- Bryan Municipal Court
- College Station Municipal Court
- Brazos JP courts and constables
State systems
- Texas DPS

Expunction versus nondisclosure: They are different forms of Texas record relief. Expunction can remove qualifying records; nondisclosure restricts public disclosure of qualifying records. Eligibility is case-specific.
