Complete the prosecutor section for expungement
The State Attorney or Statewide Prosecutor completes the required section when applicable.
Get fingerprinted
The card must contain the applicant’s information, signature, date and the fingerprinting official’s signature and agency stamp.
Pay the FDLE processing fee
Include a nonrefundable $75 personal check, cashier’s check or money order payable to FDLE.
Allow FDLE eligibility processing
FDLE currently states that complete applications typically take about 12 weeks and are not expedited.
File the court petition after approval
The Certificate of Eligibility does not itself seal or expunge the record.
Pay the Citrus County court charges
The Clerk currently lists a $42 filing fee, $1 per copy page and $2 to certify the order.
Obtain the judge’s signed order
Eligibility does not guarantee that the court will grant the petition.
Ensure FDLE receives the certified order
The record is not sealed or expunged until the required court order is processed.
Recheck local and state systems
Automatic FDLE sealing does not necessarily seal local agency records.
