Result decoder

Understand a Martin County jail or arrest result

Booking information is not the same as a final court judgment
Field What it means What it does not prove Best next step
CFN / booking number Identifier connected to the jail booking. The criminal court outcome. Save it for deposits, mail and jail questions.
Arrest date Date associated with the arrest. The exact offense date or filing date. Compare with the affidavit and court docket.
Booking date When jail processing occurred. When the alleged conduct happened. Use it to separate multiple custody events.
Charge An allegation entered during arrest or booking. That prosecutors filed or proved the offense. Find the information, complaint or charging document.
Bond amount Current displayed bond associated with a charge or order. Payment will clear every charge or hold. Call Booking before arranging payment.
Release date End of the listed jail custody episode. Dismissal or acquittal. Check the criminal case disposition.
Arrest affidavit Probable-cause narrative associated with the arrest. That every allegation was accepted by prosecutors. Compare with formal court charges.
Mugshot Booking photograph when publicly available. Guilt, conviction or identity by itself. Match stronger identifiers.
Identity safeguard

Do not confuse two people with the same name

First and last name match
Middle name, alias or suffix is consistent
Date of birth or age is consistent
Arrest date matches the known event
CFN or booking number matches
Arresting agency matches the location
Court case follows the same arrest
Charge dates and descriptions line up
Use at least two independent identifiers. Never rely only on a name or booking photograph before publishing an allegation, sending money or treating a record as belonging to a specific person.

Alternative release supervision

Martin County Pretrial Services can include strict court monitoring

The Sheriff’s Pretrial Services Program provides a court-directed alternative for qualifying defendants, including some people in non-violent or mental-health-related criminal cases.

The court may order technology-based verification.

GPS monitoring

24/7 GPS monitoring can be part of release conditions.

Mail and document rules

Martin County Jail mail has important digital and legal-mail rules

Personal mail is moving to digital handling, while privileged mail has special verification requirements. Do not assume that ordinary family correspondence and attorney mail follow the same process.

Legal / privileged mail

Physical jail address
Martin County Jail
C/O [Inmate Name]
800 SE Monterey Road
Stuart, FL 34994
Attorney or privileged senders should register with TextBehind DOCS The jail’s updated policy uses Mail Origin Verification. Open TextBehind DOCS
Add the inmate contact Provide the identifying documents requested by the platform.
Generate the MOVE QR code Print the currently valid code on the outside of the privileged-mail envelope.
Do not use an old QR code automatically The Sheriff warns that verification rules can change.
Alternatively use electronic privileged delivery TextBehind DOCS can deliver encrypted material through tablets or kiosks under the jail’s procedure.
Since December 9, 2024, privileged mail sent by postal service without the required valid MOVE QR code is subject to return.

Money orders are different from correspondence

Martin County Jail
C/O [Inmate Name]
800 SE Monterey Road
Stuart, FL 34994
Put the inmate’s booking number / CFN on the money-order mailing and clearly mark the outside “For deposit only.” Do not include correspondence in the money-order envelope; the Sheriff states that the entire envelope can otherwise be returned.

Reading-material caution

The Sheriff’s current mail page contains overlapping language: it states that effective January 1, 2025 the jail will no longer accept books from outside sources, while another paragraph describes publisher/approved-vendor reading material. Confirm the current rule with Corrections before buying or mailing a book.
The same official page clearly limits reading materials to a maximum of three combined items and prohibits hardback books, sexually explicit material, gang material, escape instructions and content that threatens facility security.
Commissary and deposits

Deposit Martin County Jail money using the correct CFN

TouchPay

  • Use inmate name and booking number / CFN.
  • MCSO site number: 234994.
  • Online or telephone deposit available.
  • Receipt is provided to the inmate after posting.

Jail lobby kiosk

  • Cash deposits can be made into the inmate account.
  • Credit-card deposits can also be made.
  • This is an inmate-account deposit—not a cash bond.
Find the CFN first Use the jail inmate search if you do not already know it.
Open the Sheriff-approved TouchPay service Open TouchPay
Select Martin County and enter site number 234994 when requested Verify the inmate before paying.
Keep the confirmation number Save it until the funds appear in the account.
TouchPay deposit line: 866-204-1603
Sheriff’s Corrections page also publishes TouchPay/commissary assistance numbers; confirm the currently displayed number when a transaction fails.

What commissary can include

Certain clothing items
Greeting cards
Limited over-the-counter medicine
Personal hygiene items
Postage stamps
Radios
Snack items
Approved iCare packages where available
Calls and communication

Know which phone provider instruction is current

The Sheriff’s current Corrections services page identifies HomeWAV for voice calling and remote video visitation. An older section of the jail mail page still references GTL for inmate billing issues. For a new communication account, start with the current HomeWAV instruction; use the older GTL number only when resolving an existing legacy billing/block issue.
Inmate telephone access is published for approximately 9:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. daily. Inmates make outgoing calls; ordinary incoming calls to housing phones are not provided.
Treat non-attorney jail calls as non-confidential. Do not discuss sensitive defense strategy or facts of a pending criminal case on an ordinary personal call.
Property and money release

Have an inmate release property before arriving at the jail

Martin County allows necessary release of personal property or money through internal inmate request forms.
The inmate initiates the request The inmate completes the applicable Property Release, Money Release Request or Money Transfer Request.
Submit it at least 24 hours ahead Do not arrive expecting an immediate unrequested property release.
Check outstanding jail debt The Sheriff states that inmate money will not be released until applicable debt such as medical or subsistence fees is satisfied.
Plan carefully Only one property/money release is permitted during an incarceration under the published guideline.
Court-appointed defense

Apply for the Martin County Public Defender

Martin County Clerk states that a defendant seeking Public Defender services must complete a financial affidavit for each case. The current published application fee is $50 per case/application.
Ask for a Public Defender at court Eligibility depends on the court’s indigency determination.
Obtain the financial affidavit The Martin County Clerk Criminal Division provides the application.
Complete one application for each case Separate criminal case numbers may require separate affidavits and fees.
Provide truthful financial information The Clerk determines eligibility for appointment.

Florida state custody

Use Florida DOC after a state-prison transfer

Use Florida DOC when

  • The person has been transferred into state prison custody.
  • You need the state facility or DOC identifier.
  • You need state-prison rather than county-jail information.

Do not use Florida DOC alone for

  • A brand-new Martin County arrest.
  • Current county pretrial detention.
  • The arrest affidavit.
  • The certified court judgment.
Open the Florida Department of Corrections public site Use the Offender Search option provided by FDC. Open Florida Department of Corrections
Search by DOC number when known A correctional identifier is safer than a common name.
Record the current institution State-prison mail and visitation procedures depend on the institution.
Return to the Martin County judgment for legal proof A prison locator does not replace the court disposition.
Florida statewide history

Use FDLE when Martin County records are not enough

Public Florida check

  • Public name-based Florida criminal-history search.
  • Current FDLE statutory fee: $24.
  • Immediate online search option available.
  • Use careful identity verification before relying on a same-name result.

  • Fingerprint based.
  • Allows you to review and challenge inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Not designed as an employment or licensing certified check.

Record correction

Correct an inaccurate Martin County or FDLE record

Identify which system contains the error Compare the jail record, Sheriff report, Clerk disposition and FDLE criminal history.
Save the incorrect entry Record the name, CFN, arrest date, charge and court case number.
Obtain the controlling proof Examples include a corrected police report, certified dismissal, judgment or disposition.
Correct Martin County source data first Contact Sheriff Records when MCSO booking or police data is incorrect.
Correct court information through the Clerk/court A final disposition is controlled by the criminal court record.
Use FDLE Personal Review for statewide errors The fingerprint-supported process allows the record subject to challenge inaccurate or incomplete Florida history.
Recheck every database A correction in one system may take time to appear in another.
Correction is not expungement. Correct a record when it is factually wrong. Seek sealing or expungement when an accurate record qualifies for statutory relief.
Florida record relief

Seal or expunge an eligible Martin County arrest record

A dismissed case does not automatically disappear from every Florida criminal-history system. Court-ordered sealing or expungement has a specific FDLE eligibility and court-filing process.

Sealed record

The general public loses ordinary access, but certain governmental and legally authorized entities can still access the record under Florida law.

Expunged record

Access is more restricted; many authorized entities are informed that a criminal history record was expunged rather than receiving the underlying material without legal authority.

Standard FDLE Certificate of Eligibility packet

Fully completed application
Application signed before notary or deputy clerk
Certified disposition for each listed case/charge
Fingerprint card completed by authorized criminal-justice personnel
Prosecutor-certified statement for expunction applications

Obtain the prosecutor statement for expunction The appropriate State Attorney or statewide prosecutor completes the required certified statement.
Have fingerprints taken An authorized law-enforcement or criminal-justice agency must complete the fingerprint card.
Pay the $75 FDLE fee FDLE accepts the listed check or money-order methods and does not accept cash for the Certificate application.
Wait for FDLE eligibility review FDLE currently states that eligibility processing is typically about 12 weeks after a complete packet is received and is not expedited.
Do not stop at the Certificate The Certificate only confirms statutory eligibility to petition. It does not itself seal or expunge the record.
File in the proper Martin County court Use the Certificate, petition, affidavit and other required documents.
Obtain the signed court order Relief does not occur until the court grants it and the proper agencies receive the order.
