SHERIFF ROSTER
Is the person in jail?
Use Current Inmates for live jail listings or the 48 Hour Release report for a recent discharge.
Use for: booking number, SO number, booking date, charges, bond and mugshot.
ARRESTING AGENCY
What did police report?
Request the incident or arrest report from KCSO, Boerne Police, Fair Oaks Ranch Police or the other agency that created it.
Use for: incident narrative, officer report and investigative records.
COURT RECORD
What happened to the charge?
Felony records go through the District Clerk; misdemeanor records go through the County Clerk.
Use for: filed charge, orders, plea, judgment and disposition.
TEXAS DPS
What appears statewide?
Use Texas DPS criminal-history services for public conviction/deferred-adjudication data or a fingerprint personal review.
Use for: statewide Texas history rather than one Kendall booking.
Best sequence: jail booking → identity check → arresting agency → felony/misdemeanor court → final disposition → correction or record-clearing step if needed.
Official custody search
Search current Kendall County Jail inmates
Select Current Inmates
Do not use the release report when the main question is present custody.
Search by first or last name
The roster provides a direct name-search field.
Open every possible match
A common surname may produce several unrelated people.
Save the SO number
The Sheriff’s roster displays an SO identifier for the person.
Save the booking number
The booking number identifies the specific jail intake and is especially useful for records and jail questions.
Check the booking date and time
Make sure it matches the arrest event you are researching.
Read every charge separately
Multiple allegations may appear under one booking.
Read each bond entry
Bond can be an amount, pending, no bond or otherwise controlled by the corresponding case.
Continue to court
The Sheriff expressly disclaims certification of roster accuracy; verify important outcomes through the proper clerk.
The roster can be sorted by name or date, newest-to-oldest or oldest-to-newest. Do not interpret “No Bond” as a permanent status; a judicial order can change release conditions.

Match the exact person
Compare name, SO number, booking number and arrest information.

A release does not remove the criminal case.
Search the court case
Determine whether the case is active, dismissed, pending trial, resolved by plea or otherwise disposed.
Released does not mean dismissed. A defendant can be released on cash, surety or personal bond while the criminal case continues.

The arrest is very recent
Booking, fingerprints, medical screening, magistration and roster publication can take time.
The person was already released
Use the 48 Hour Release view rather than Current Inmates.

Another county holds the person
Search the jail in the actual county of detention.
The arresting agency is municipal
Boerne Police or Fair Oaks Ranch Police may hold the incident report even if Kendall County Jail handled custody.
The person received a citation instead
A citation may create a court case without a Kendall jail booking.
The information is restricted
Juvenile, sealed, expunged or legally protected records may not appear publicly.

Bail and release
Understand Kendall County cash, surety and personal bonds
Cash bond
The accused posts the court-ordered dollar amount to secure appearance. Verify refund and case procedures with the controlling clerk.
Surety bond
A licensed bail bondsman posts the bond after the defendant or family arranges the bondsman’s fee and any required collateral.
Personal bond
The defendant is released without posting the full bond amount but becomes liable for the amount if the contractual appearance requirements are violated.
Attorney bonds are not accepted by Kendall County Detention Center.
Confirm every active charge
Do not assume one displayed amount resolves all charges, warrants or holds.
Confirm the current bond type
Bond information can change after a judicial hearing.
For cash bond, obtain the exact amount
The jail states that cash bonds and fines must be paid by money order or cashier’s check for the exact transaction amount.
Do not overpay
Kendall County states that it cannot accept payment above the amount due.
Combine instruments if needed
More than one money order, cashier’s check or a combination may be used.
Do not attempt wire or internet payment for the jail bond
The Sheriff currently states that wire transfers and internet bond payments are not accepted.
For a surety bond, choose an approved bondsman
The approved local list is maintained at the jail.
Account for the surety-bond fee
Kendall currently publishes a $15 jail fee on surety bonds, with a maximum of two such fees, or $30, per individual per jailing.
Pay the bond fee separately by money order
The surety-bond fee is payable to Kendall County.
Avoid the bond blackout periods
Release bonds are not accepted between 11 a.m.–1 p.m. or 5 p.m.–7 p.m..
For a Kendall County offense, the Sheriff states that anyone using a surety bond after booking locally must use an approved local bail-bond company. KCSO employees cannot choose or recommend a company for you.

Texas statewide history
Use Texas DPS criminal-history search correctly
A Texas DPS name search is not fingerprint identification. DPS specifically warns that similar names and dates of birth can produce incorrect identity matches.
Public name search
- Search first and last name.
- Add middle or maiden name when known.
- Add full birth date to narrow results.
- Current online search cost: one $1 search credit.
- Save or print the result you need.
Personal fingerprint review
- Use when reviewing your own Texas criminal history.
- Fingerprint identification is more accurate.
- DPS publishes a $15 fingerprint-based record-check fee.
- FAST fingerprint provider charges may be additional.
- Use this path when disputing a name-search match.
Select Criminal History Conviction Name Search
Public users are directed to the public criminal-history site.
Create the required account
Purchase search credits before running the final query.
Enter the full legal name
DPS requires first and last name; middle/maiden name is optional.
Add the full date of birth
DPS states that this narrows the result set.
Preview possible matches carefully
Do not assume the first name match belongs to your subject.
Use fingerprints when identity matters
A fingerprint personal review is the appropriate path for resolving a disputed criminal-history identity.
DPS states that Texas criminal-history information is built from data submitted by criminal-justice agencies within Texas. It is therefore a different product from the Kendall County jail roster.
Error resolution
Correct a wrong Texas arrest or disposition
Identify the incorrect system
Determine whether the error is in KCSO, a police report, court record or Texas DPS history.
Save the exact identifiers
Record the SO number, booking number, case number and incorrect field.
Obtain certified court proof
When a DPS disposition is missing or incorrect, obtain a certified disposition from the court with jurisdiction.
Correct the originating court or agency first
A Sheriff cannot rewrite a judgment issued by the court.
Submit the certified proof to DPS Error Resolution
DPS requires certified documentation to update or correct criminal-history data.
Recheck the corrected history
Verify the change after processing.
If another person used your identity during an arrest, Texas DPS treats misuse of identity as a different process from correcting an ordinary clerical error.
Texas record relief
Understand expunction versus nondisclosure
Expunction
An eligible expunction can require government agencies to remove qualifying arrest and court records under Texas law. Eligibility is narrow and depends on exactly what happened to the arrest and case.
Order of nondisclosure
Nondisclosure generally restricts qualifying criminal-history information from ordinary public disclosure rather than destroying every record. Authorized criminal-justice and other statutorily permitted users can retain access.
Do not choose the procedure from the jail result alone. First obtain the final court disposition and review the current Texas eligibility rules.
Collect all Kendall identifiers
Save the SO number, booking number, arrest date and court case number.
Obtain the final disposition
Request the judgment, dismissal or other controlling court document.
Obtain your Texas criminal history when useful
This helps identify agencies and records that may need to be addressed.
Review Kendall District Clerk expunction instructions
Kendall County publishes a local Expunction Procedures and Information resource through the District Clerk.
Open Kendall expunction information
Determine whether expunction is legally available
Dismissal alone does not automatically establish eligibility in every situation.
If expunction is unavailable, check nondisclosure
Texas courts maintain standardized nondisclosure forms for qualifying cases.
Open Texas court forms
List every agency holding the record
This can include the arresting agency, KCSO, the clerk, prosecutor and Texas DPS.
File in the proper Kendall County court
Follow the District Clerk and current Texas procedural requirements.
Ask about current filing and service fees before filing
Record-clearing costs depend on the procedure and agencies requiring notice.
Use a court-cost waiver when legally available
The District Clerk provides a Statement of Inability to Afford Payment of Court Costs or an Appeal Bond.
Attend the hearing when required
Bring the relevant certified dispositions and supporting documents.
Keep certified copies of the signed order
Use them if a government or private background system continues displaying a record that should have been updated.
Important difference: An expunction and an order of nondisclosure are not interchangeable. Texas DPS states that nondisclosed information can remain available to criminal-justice agencies and other authorized entities.
Attorney communication
How confidential attorney visitation differs from family visits
KCSO warns attorneys not to self-schedule privileged video communication through ordinary Cidnet because the normal system automatically records communications.
In-person attorney booth
- Attorney must show bar card and picture ID.
- Attorney booth is first-come, first-served.
- Visits are generally permitted except during meals, shift change or emergencies.
- Published meal blackout times: 11 a.m.–1 p.m. and 5 p.m.–7 p.m.
Remote privileged communication
- Do not use self-scheduled ordinary recorded video for privileged communication.
- Call the jail for manually arranged attorney video.
- Published attorney scheduling: Monday–Friday, 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
- Remote attorney visit must be scheduled at least one day ahead.
