BOOKING + CASE VERIFIED
An arrest is not a conviction. A booking charge is an allegation received during arrest or intake. It may be changed, dismissed or never filed. Never identify a person from a matching name or mugshot alone.

DETENTION CENTER
Is the person held now?
Use the inmate search for current or recent detainees, booking identity, charges and custody information.
First stop for a recent Anderson County arrest.
ARRESTING AGENCY
What did officers report?
Request the incident report, arrest report, probable-cause narrative or releasable supplements.
The jail may not own the police report.
CRIMINAL COURT
What was actually filed?
Use General Sessions or Summary Court records for filed charges, hearings, warrants and disposition.
The court charge may differ from booking.
SLED CATCH
Do you need statewide history?
Use the state repository for a South Carolina name-based criminal-history report.
Wanted-person information is not included.
Most reliable sequence: Find the booking, save the detainee and case identifiers, confirm the arresting agency, search the court docket and request only the document still missing.
Official detention search
How to search current and recent Anderson County detainees
Choose the inmate or booking search
Do not use the portal’s general contact function when you need a custody result.
Begin with the last name
A surname-first search avoids missing middle-name, suffix, maiden-name and spelling variations.
Add the first name only when needed
Use fewer fields first. An overly narrow query can hide the correct result.
Open every plausible match
Compare age or birth date, booking date, detainee ID, arresting agency and status.
Separate different bookings
The same person may have several custody events. Match the correct date and agency.
Read every charge and hold
One booking can contain several warrants, charges or agency detainers.
Record the official identifiers
Save the detainee ID, booking number, warrant number, report number and court case number.
Check whether the person was released or transferred
Current custody can change after bond, court, transportation or transfer processing.
The Sheriff describes the portal as a locator for current and recent detainees. It is not a complete statewide South Carolina criminal history.

Identity safeguard
Confirm the correct person before relying on the booking
Full first and last name match
Middle name, suffix or alias is consistent
Age or date of birth is consistent
Booking date matches the known incident
Arresting agency matches the location
Detainee or booking number matches another record
Court case follows the same arrest
Physical description is reasonably consistent
Minimum identity rule: Confirm at least two independent identifiers before sending money, publishing an allegation or treating a booking as belonging to a particular person.
Same name, different date of birth
Treat the records as different people unless the agency confirms a clerical error.
Similar image, different detainee ID
The official identifier is more reliable than visual resemblance.
Name changed after marriage
Search the current surname, maiden name and known former names.
Several Anderson cases appear
Match each warrant and case number to the correct booking date.
Troubleshooting
No Anderson County booking found? Check these causes
The arrest is very recent
Identification, fingerprints, medical screening and data entry may still be underway.
The name is entered differently
Try the surname alone, maiden name, hyphen variation, suffix or alternate spelling.
The person was released
A current-custody view may no longer display the person in the expected position.
The person was transferred
Check another county, South Carolina Department of Corrections, federal custody or a medical facility.
A municipal department made the arrest
The booking can be county-controlled while the detailed report remains with city police.
The arrest occurred outside Anderson County
Search the jurisdiction where custody began, not only the person’s home address.
The court case is not visible yet
Prosecutor review, warrant transmission and docket entry can occur after booking.
The record is restricted
Juvenile, expunged, sealed or legally protected information may not appear publicly.
Missing-booking call script
I am trying to confirm the custody status of [full legal name], age or date of birth [information]. The arrest may have occurred on [date] through [agency]. Can you confirm whether the person is being booked, held, released, transferred or listed under another identifier?
Arrest-to-court lifecycle
Follow the Anderson County case in the correct order
Law-enforcement incident
The arresting agency creates the incident report, arrest narrative, evidence record and supplements.
Detention intake
The jail records identity, property, charges received, warrants, holds and custody status.
Bond review
A magistrate can set bond and release conditions or order continued detention.
Warrant and prosecution processing
Warrants are transmitted through the court system, and the Solicitor reviews General Sessions matters.
Summary or General Sessions Court
The correct court depends on the offense, penalty and procedural history.
Case proceedings
The docket may include hearings, amended charges, motions, warrants, pleas and trial activity.
Final disposition
Each charge can end by dismissal, nolle prosequi, acquittal, plea, conviction or another order.
Correction or expungement
Incorrect data can be challenged, while an eligible charge may qualify for destruction or restriction.

South Carolina statewide history
Use SLED CATCH when a county search is not enough
SLED CATCH is a name-based South Carolina search. It does not include wanted-person information, does not search other states and is less reliable than a fingerprint-based comparison.
Enter the legal name carefully
Name spelling and identity information affect a name-based result.
Review possible matches
Do not assume every same-name record belongs to the subject.
Print or save the report
Keep the transaction and report information for correction or expungement follow-up.
Search warrants separately
Wanted-person information is not included in CATCH.
Search the sex-offender registry separately

Record correction
Fix a wrong booking, charge or court disposition
Identify which system is wrong
Compare the detention portal, arresting-agency report, court docket and SLED report.
Save the inaccurate result
Record the page, date, booking number, warrant number, case number and disputed field.
Obtain the controlling document
Use a corrected report, certified dismissal, amended order or judgment.
Contact the originating office
A jail-display issue goes to Detention; a report issue goes to the arresting agency; a docket issue goes to the court.
Contact SLED when statewide history is wrong
SLED recognizes the subject’s right to correct erroneous criminal-history information.
Recheck connected systems
One agency’s correction may not automatically update every public or private database.
Correction versus expungement: Correction fixes inaccurate information. Expungement restricts or destroys an accurate record that qualifies under South Carolina law.
If an expunged Anderson County charge remains on a private background report, dispute it directly with the reporting company. SLED cannot update a third-party commercial database.
South Carolina expungement
Choose the correct Anderson County expungement path

- Eligible dismissed, nolle-prossed or not-guilty charges may qualify for no-cost processing.
- Different rules apply when the person was or was not fingerprinted.
- Preliminary-hearing dismissals and related pending cases can create exceptions.

Summary Court no-cost process
For an eligible Magistrate or Municipal Court charge that ended not guilty, dismissed or nolle prossed, South Carolina law provides a no-cost Summary Court expungement process. When the defendant was fingerprinted, the court ordinarily begins the process automatically. When the defendant was not fingerprinted, the defendant applies using the approved form.
A dismissal at a preliminary hearing is excluded from the automatic Summary Court route. Related charges pending in Summary Court and General Sessions from the same event can also prevent immediate processing.
