Miami-Dade County, Florida · Jail bookings, police reports, warrants and criminal cases
Find a Miami-Dade Booking and Verify What Happened in Court
Start with the live county inmate search, save the jail number and arresting agency, then match the booking to the Clerk’s criminal case.
This guide also covers older arrests, police reports, bond, first appearance, release, visits, mail, calls, inmate money, lawyers, victim advocates, FDLE review and record clearing.

Arrest does not mean conviction. A booking charge records an allegation received during arrest or intake. Prosecutors can decline, replace or reduce it, and the court may dismiss the case or find the defendant not guilty.
“Dade County” means Miami-Dade County. Older documents and popular searches often use “Dade County,” but the current official county name is Miami-Dade County.
Search coverageCurrent MDCR custody with limited recent-release information.
Intake centerNew county detainees are processed through TGK.
Personal mailSent to the digital-mail center in Tampa.
Court copies$1 per page plus $2 per certified document.
Local disposition letter$7, plus research fees when details are unknown.
Choose the correct record
One Miami-Dade arrest can produce five separate records
MDCR BOOKING
Is the person currently in county custody?Name, birth date, facility, charges, bond, jail number, booking date, time and mugshot.
Best first step for a new county-jail admission.
ARRESTING AGENCY
What did the officer report?Arrest form, incident report, probable-cause narrative, body-camera reference and supplements.
Request from the agency whose officer made the arrest.
MIAMI-DADE CLERK
What charges were formally filed?Information or indictment, hearings, warrant events, dismissal, plea, judgment and sentence.
The court record controls the final disposition.
FDLE HISTORY
What appears across Florida?Statewide name-based history or a fingerprint-based Personal Review for the record subject.
A county case search is not a statewide history.
FLORIDA CORRECTIONS
Did the person transfer to state prison?DC number, prison assignment, sentence and release information when available.
Use after state-prison transfer—not for local pretrial detention.
Fastest reliable order: Search MDCR, save the jail number and arresting agency, search the Clerk case, then order only the police report or certified disposition still needed.
Official county inmate search
Search a current Miami-Dade jail booking
Enter at least three letters of the last name
The live search requires a minimum of three characters.
Add at least three letters of the first name when needed
Use this only when the surname returns too many people.
Open every plausible result
Similar names can belong to different people, and one person can have multiple bookings.
Match the date of birth
Do not identify a person through the photograph alone.
Record the jail number
This number is required for mail, deposits, calls and many jail questions.
Record the current location
The result may identify Pre-Trial, TGK, Metro West or monitored release.
Read every charge and bond line
One booking can contain several cases, warrants or holds.
Save the arresting agency
This determines where the detailed police report should be requested.
Continue to the Clerk case
The booking page does not prove what prosecutors filed or how the case ended.
Released and historical arrests
Find a booking after the person leaves custody
The public inmate search focuses on current custody and may provide limited information for people released during approximately the previous 72 hours. It is not a complete historical arrest archive.
Search current custody first
Confirm the person was not transferred or placed on monitored release.
Look for a recent-release option
Use it when the person left custody during the previous few days.
Search the Clerk criminal docket
The court case can remain public after the jail record disappears from the live search.
Request the arrest report separately
MDCR states that arrest records should be requested from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office or the arresting municipal agency.
Order a certified disposition when proof is needed
A dismissal, judgment or sentence is stronger proof than a booking entry.
Historical-custody request
I request the releasable booking, custody, housing and release records for [full legal name], date of birth [date], for an intake occurring on or about [date]. Known identifiers include jail number [number], arresting agency [agency] and court case number [number]. Please provide electronic records and a written estimate before processing if the total will exceed $[amount].

No-result troubleshooting
No Miami-Dade inmate or arrest record found?
Booking is still underway
Intake, fingerprints, medical screening and data entry can take several hours.
The person remains at another agency
Transfer to Turner Guilford Knight may not yet be complete.
The person was cited or released
Not every arrest creates a long county-jail stay.
The name has fewer than three characters
The live search requires at least three letters in a name field.
The person uses another spelling or surname
Try a maiden name, hyphenated name, suffix or alias.
The arrest occurred in another county
Search the county where the person was booked.
The person is under monitored release
An NDCCC-type location reference can mean house arrest rather than physical jail custody.
The person transferred to Florida or federal prison
Check the FDC or federal locator.
The record is older than the public release window
Request the historical record and search the Clerk case.
The record is restricted
Juvenile, sealed, expunged and legally confidential information may be unavailable.

County Criminal
Use for misdemeanors, county criminal matters and criminal traffic cases within county-court jurisdiction.
Open the Clerk Criminal Justice Online Case Search
Use the current COIN system for public felony and misdemeanor case information.
Search Miami-Dade criminal cases
Search the case number first
A case number is safer than a common-name search.
Otherwise search the defendant’s legal name
Compare the date of birth, filing date, arrest date and arresting agency.
Match the booking to the case
Confirm the jail charge and arrest date belong to the same event.
Find the information or indictment
This identifies the counts formally filed by prosecutors or the grand jury.
Check amended charges
Later filings can replace, add, reduce or dismiss an original count.
Review warrant and bond entries in date order
Do not rely on an older warrant or bond line when later court action exists.
Find the disposition for every count
One count may be dismissed while another results in a plea or conviction.
Read the judgment and sentence
Confirm custody, probation, community control, fines, restitution and special conditions.
Register when an image is unavailable
Free registration can provide access to additional eligible case images and remove some search limitations.
The Clerk’s online case summary is useful for research, but a certified disposition, judgment or sentencing order is stronger proof when another agency requires an official document.
Certified court proof
Choose a case document or local disposition letter
Certified case document
Use when you need a specific arrest affidavit, information, indictment, dismissal order, judgment, sentence or probation order.
Criminal-history disposition letter

Warrant verification
Check a Miami-Dade warrant without relying on an old entry
Miami-Dade does not provide one complete public county warrant database. A court case, law-enforcement file and FDLE wanted-person entry can show different stages or update times.
Identify the likely issuing court
Use the booking, citation, prior case or notice.
Search the Clerk criminal docket
Look for the warrant number, issue date and latest status.
Read all later entries
A warrant may later be served, recalled, quashed or cancelled.

Cash bond
The full eligible bond is paid in person through the approved facility TouchPay process.
Surety bond
A properly licensed bail-bond agent posts the bond and charges a fee under the agent’s agreement.
Confirm the correct person
Match the full legal name, date of birth and jail number.

One bond payment may not clear another case or detainer.
Call inmate information before paying
Confirm the current amount, eligibility and release conditions.

Wait for booking to finish
Bond information may not be immediately available after arrest.
Use the approved method only
Do not follow a payment link sent by an unknown caller or social-media account.
Keep the receipt and court information
Record the case number, payer, amount, payment time and next hearing.
Allow several hours for release processing
Payment does not mean the person can leave immediately.
Bond-verification script
I am calling about [full legal name], date of birth [date], jail number [number]. Please confirm every active charge, the current bond amount and type for each charge, all warrants or outside holds, the approved payment location and any nonfinancial release condition.
Release and property
What happens after bond or a court release order?
Booking is not complete
Staff must finish identity, fingerprint, medical and record processing.
The court order is still processing
Release staff must receive and verify the current judicial paperwork.
Another warrant or hold remains
One satisfied charge does not clear every custody basis.
Payment verification is pending
Staff must confirm the cash or surety bond transaction.
Release scheduling is underway
Transportation, property and final record checks can add several hours.
The person is moving to another agency
MDCR release can be followed by transfer to another county, state or federal hold.

Defense representation
Request the Miami-Dade Public Defender or verify private counsel
Public Defender
- Request appointed counsel in court.
- Complete the Affidavit of Indigent Status.
- Pay or address the $50 application fee.
- Wait for judicial appointment.
- Use the court case number when contacting the office.
Private lawyer

- Ask who will handle first appearance and hearings.
- Request a written fee agreement.
- Confirm whether bond, motions, trial and appeal are included.
- Use privileged attorney communication for case strategy.
Inability to pay the $50 application fee does not automatically prevent representation. A judge can appoint the Public Defender when the person meets indigency requirements or cannot afford private counsel without substantial family hardship.

Correction is not expungement. Correct a record when the information is factually wrong. Use sealing or expungement when the record is accurate but may qualify for restricted access.
Florida record relief
Seal or expunge an eligible Miami-Dade arrest
A dismissed, abandoned or acquitted charge does not automatically disappear from Florida criminal-history and local court systems.
Sealed record
The general public loses access, but specified government and authorized entities retain access under Florida law.
Expunged record
Most entities that could inspect a sealed record are told that a record was expunged but cannot inspect it without a court order.
Prepare the FDLE packet
Completed FDLE application
Application signed before a notary or deputy clerk
Certified disposition for every charge
Proof of probation or diversion completion when applicable
Authorized fingerprint card
Prosecutor-certified statement for expungement
$75 nonrefundable FDLE payment
Attorney letter of representation when applicable
Obtain and keep the arrest and court documents
Save the arrest report, certified disposition and later judicial order before access is restricted.
Review statutory eligibility
Prior adjudications, previous relief and disqualifying offenses can prevent eligibility.
Obtain certified dispositions from the Clerk
Include a disposition for every charge listed in the application.
Obtain authorized fingerprints
The fingerprint card needs the applicant’s details and the fingerprinting official’s signature and agency information.
Include the $75 FDLE fee
FDLE accepts the published forms of check or money order and does not accept cash or gift cards.
Allow approximately 12 weeks
FDLE processes complete packets in the order received and does not expedite ordinary applications.
Take the eligibility certificate to the main Criminal Clerk

Copies, certification, notarization and other services can add separate fees.
Attend the hearing when scheduled
The judge decides whether to grant the petition.
Keep certified copies of the signed order
