Grayson County, Texas · Jail booking, Sheriff records, bonds and criminal courts
Find Grayson County Jail Bookings and Verify the Court Outcome
A Grayson County arrest can create several separate records: the jail entry, Sheriff or police report, bond information, prosecutor file and criminal court case. These records do not always update at the same time.
Start with the county jail search, save the identifying numbers and then follow the case to the correct misdemeanor or felony court. The steps below also cover reports, warrants, visits, mail, inmate money, victim notifications, lawyers, Texas DPS records and record clearing.

GRAYSON COURT FILE

BOOKING + COURT VERIFIED
Arrest does not mean conviction. A jail charge records an allegation or hold received during custody processing. The District Attorney can decline, change or add charges, a grand jury can decline a felony case, and a court can dismiss a charge or find a defendant not guilty.
Important jail-payment change effective March 1, 2026
The current Grayson County Jail communication page states that the jail no longer accepts cash payments of any kind. An older commissary page still contains language saying kiosks accept cash. Follow the newer March 1, 2026 rule and confirm the current accepted method before traveling with money.

Which Grayson County record answers your question?
COUNTY JAIL
Is the person in local custody?
Use the Sheriff-connected Jail Search for the live county custody record.
Save every SO, booking, charge, bond and case identifier shown.
ARRESTING AGENCY
What did officers report?
Request the offense report, arrest report, probable-cause material or identified supplement from the agency that created it.
A municipal police report does not become a Sheriff report simply because the person enters the county jail.
COUNTY CLERK
Is it a misdemeanor case?
County Court at Law #1 and #2 criminal misdemeanor records are maintained by the County Clerk.
Use for filed misdemeanor charges and final disposition.
DISTRICT CLERK
Is it a felony case?
Felony cases in the 15th, 59th and 397th District Courts are handled through the District Clerk.
Use the felony court record—not the booking allegation—to verify the result.
TEXAS DPS
Do you need statewide history?
DPS Computerized Criminal History receives qualifying arrest, prosecution and disposition information from Texas jurisdictions.
A DPS search is statewide and is different from a Grayson County jail search.
Most reliable sequence: Find the county booking → copy the identifiers → identify the arresting agency → determine misdemeanor versus felony → read the court case through disposition → request only the certified document or police report still needed.
Official jail search
Search a Grayson County jail booking step by step
Begin with the legal surname
Use a broader name search first when the middle name, suffix or exact spelling is uncertain.
Open every reasonable match
Do not assume the first matching name belongs to the person you are researching.
Match independent identifiers
Compare age or birth information, arrest date, SO or booking number and case information when displayed.
Record the SO number
The SO number is especially useful for inmate correspondence, commissary and other jail services.
Read every charge separately
One booking can contain multiple charges, warrants or holds with different court cases or release conditions.
Record the bond information shown
Do not assume that satisfying one bond resolves every charge or outside hold.
Identify the arresting agency
The report may belong to the Sheriff, Sherman Police, Denison Police, another municipal department, DPS or another agency.
Find the final disposition
Look for dismissal, no-bill information where applicable, plea, judgment, conviction, acquittal or sentence.

Identity safeguard
Confirm the correct person before using an arrest record
First and last name are consistent
Middle name, suffix or alias is consistent
Age or birth date is consistent
Arrest date matches the known event
Arresting agency matches the location
SO or booking number is consistent
Court case follows the same incident
Disposition belongs to that exact case
Minimum identity rule: Match at least two independent identifiers before sending money, publishing an allegation or treating the result as belonging to a particular person.
Same name, different birth date
Treat them as different people unless the record custodian confirms an error.
Same person, several bookings
Keep each arrest date, SO number, charge and court case separate.
Mugshot looks similar
Visual resemblance is weaker than official identifiers.
DPS name match looks uncertain
A fingerprint-supported personal review is the stronger identity method.
No-result troubleshooting
No Grayson County arrest result? Check these possibilities
The arrest is very recent
Intake, identification, medical screening and data entry may still be underway.
The name is entered differently
Try the surname alone, a former surname, alias, suffix or alternate spelling.
The person was cited rather than jailed
A criminal case can exist without the person appearing as a current county inmate.
A municipal agency handled the event
The detailed report may be at Sherman Police, Denison Police or another city agency.
The arrest occurred outside Grayson County
Search the county where the person was actually booked.
The person was transferred
Another county, TDCJ, federal custody or another agency may now hold the person.
The court case is not visible yet
Prosecutor review, grand-jury review or court data entry can occur after booking.
The record is restricted
Juvenile, expunged, nondisclosed or otherwise confidential information may not appear publicly.
Missing-booking call script
I am trying to confirm the custody or booking status of [full legal name], date of birth or age [information]. The arrest may have occurred on [date] through [agency]. I have [SO number / report number / case number]. Can you confirm whether the person is still being processed, currently held, released, transferred or listed under another identifier?
Local criminal process
Follow a Grayson County arrest from investigation to disposition
Law-enforcement investigation
The investigating agency creates its offense report, arrest material, evidence references and related documentation.
Jail booking
The Sheriff records identity, custody information, incoming charges, holds and release information.
Magistration and counsel request
Rights, bond or release issues and a request for appointed counsel may be addressed during the early court process.
District Attorney intake
The investigating agency sends its completed case to the District Attorney, where an assistant district attorney reviews the evidence.
Misdemeanor filing
A misdemeanor can be filed directly in a County Court at Law or refused for prosecution.
Felony grand-jury review
A felony approved at intake is presented for grand-jury consideration. A true bill allows the felony case to proceed; a no-bill means the grand jury declined the charge presented.
Arraignment and later settings
After indictment, the felony case proceeds through arraignment, discovery, plea conferences, motions or trial.
Disposition
A charge can end by dismissal, no-bill, plea, acquittal, conviction, judgment or another court order.
Correction or record relief
Missing disposition data may be corrected, and an eligible record may later qualify for expunction or an order of nondisclosure.
Grand jury does not decide guilt. Its role in a felony case is to decide whether the evidence presented is sufficient for the accusation to proceed as an indictment.
Correct record holder
Send the request to the office that actually owns the record
Jail, police and court records are maintained separately

Texas Public Information Act
Request a Grayson County Sheriff arrest or incident report
Confirm the Sheriff created or maintains the requested record
A city-police report should be requested from the city department instead.
Make the request in writing
Grayson County states that Sheriff public-information requests must be written.
Name the record specifically
Examples include offense report, arrest report, booking information, probable-cause documentation or a particular supplement.
Add the identifiers
Include the report number, SO number, arrest date, location and court case number when known.
Request electronic records when practical
The Texas Public Information Act does not require an agency to create an entirely new record or format.
Set a cost ceiling
Ask for an estimate before the search, review or copying expense exceeds a stated amount.
Track the response
The Sheriff’s page states that the department has 10 business days to review and respond to a request.
If the Sheriff’s Office believes information is legally exempt from disclosure, it may seek a ruling from the Texas Attorney General. The county states that Attorney General review can take up to 90 days and can take longer for large requests.
Copy-ready Grayson Sheriff records request
Under the Texas Public Information Act, I request electronic copies of the releasable offense or incident report, arrest report, probable-cause documentation and specifically identified supplements concerning [full legal name] for the incident on or about [date] at [location]. Known identifiers are Sheriff’s report number [number], SO or booking number [number] and court case number [number]. Please provide a written estimate before processing if the charge will exceed $[amount], and identify the legal basis for any material withheld or redacted.
Jail charge → court charge
Search the correct Grayson County criminal court
Misdemeanor
Record holder: Grayson County Clerk.
The Clerk maintains misdemeanor records for County Court at Law #1 and #2.
Use the online Judicial Records Search first, then request certified proof only when needed.
Felony
Record holder: Grayson County District Clerk.
Felony criminal matters proceed in district court after the required felony charging process.
Grayson County’s criminal district courts include the 15th, 59th and 397th District Courts.
Use the case number first
A known cause or case number is safer than a common-name search.
Match the defendant carefully
Compare name, dates, charges and court assignment with the jail event.
Identify misdemeanor versus felony
This determines whether certified records come from the County Clerk or District Clerk.
Find the charging document
Compare the formal complaint or indictment with the original booking allegation.
Read every count separately
One charge can be dismissed while another is resolved by plea, trial or judgment.
Review the newest docket entries
Do not stop at the first warrant, bond or hearing entry.
Locate the final disposition
Find the actual result for each count rather than relying on a generic “closed” label.

Warrant and bond verification
Check a Grayson County warrant without relying on an old entry
Start with the person’s existing cases
Search each cause number connected to the name.
Read warrant-related entries chronologically
An issued warrant can later be served, recalled, withdrawn or otherwise resolved.
Check the court assignment
A County Court at Law, District Court, Justice Court or another jurisdiction can have separate warrant information.
Confirm current status before acting
Contact the issuing court, Sheriff’s Warrants/Civil unit or defense counsel when the warrant concerns you.
Grayson County Sheriff’s Civil / Warrants
Main county number:
903-813-4200
Civil Sergeant: extension 2552
Civil clerks: extensions 2226 / 2227
Do not confront or attempt to detain someone based on a search result. A similar name, recently recalled warrant or delayed system update can produce a dangerous mistake.
Bond and release
Verify every charge before arranging a Grayson County bond
Bond, court fines and inmate commissary are three different payment systems. Do not send money to a commissary account or Sheriff’s Collections office because someone says it will automatically cause release.
Confirm the exact person
Match name, SO number, booking information and case number.
Write down every charge
One booking can contain multiple criminal cases or outside holds.
Record every bond entry
Do not use one charge’s amount as the total for the booking.
Identify outside holds
Another county, court or agency can prevent release even when a local bond is satisfied.
Verify a private bond provider
Grayson County operates a Bail Bond Board. Confirm a provider’s current authorization rather than relying on an advertisement.
Open the Grayson County Bail Bond Board
Keep all paperwork
Save the bond agreement, receipt, case number and release information.
Allow release processing
Jail staff still must confirm court instructions, holds and release paperwork.
Bond-verification call script
I am calling about [full legal name], SO or booking number [number]. Please confirm every active charge and case, the current bond or release condition for each matter, any outside holds and the correct process for satisfying the release conditions.

The first three people an inmate allows to visit become the approved visitors for the month.
Know when the list can change
The inmate may change approved visitors on the first Tuesday of each month.
Bring the correct original identification
Visitors age 16 or older need valid state- or government-issued photo identification.
Arrive before the final seating cutoff
Because visitation is first come first served, arriving at the end of the period can result in no visit.

Commissary and inmate money
Deposit Grayson County inmate funds without using the wrong account
Current 2026 rule: Grayson County’s Inmate Communication page says the jail stopped accepting cash payments of any kind effective March 1, 2026. An older commissary page still mentions cash at kiosks, so use the newer rule and verify before attempting an in-person payment.

Statewide Texas criminal history
Use Texas DPS when a county-only search is not enough
A Texas DPS name search is not the same thing as the Grayson County Jail Search. DPS receives qualifying criminal-history information from Texas jurisdictions and a name-based search can produce mistaken identity matches.
Search credit
$1 per initial public criminal-history search.
Card purchase fee
2.25% per credit plus $0.25 per transaction.
No-match search
Still uses a search credit.
Required name
First and last name; more identifiers improve accuracy.
Positive identity
Fingerprints are more reliable than name matching.
Create the required DPS account
The public search requires an account and search credits.
Purchase only the credits needed
One search credit currently costs $1.
Enter the exact first and last name
Avoid nicknames and incomplete initials.
Add middle or maiden name when known
DPS recommends supplying as much accurate information as possible.
Add complete birth date
A full date helps narrow same-name results.
Review match information carefully
Do not assume a similar-sounding result belongs to the searched person.
Use personal fingerprint review when identity is disputed
DPS directs people disputing a name-based record to obtain their personal criminal-history review through fingerprints.

Obtain your own DPS record when the statewide entry is disputed
Use the fingerprint-supported personal-review procedure.
Identify the exact wrong entry
Mark the arrest date, offense, agency, disposition or identity information at issue.
Get a certified court disposition
DPS states that a private-company copy is not sufficient for correcting missing court disposition information.
Use the separate misuse-of-identity procedure when appropriate
A record created because another person used your identity is different from an ordinary clerical error.
Recheck connected systems
A DPS correction does not necessarily change an unrelated third-party website automatically.
Texas record relief
Expunction versus an order of nondisclosure
Expunction
Texas Chapter 55A provides the legal framework for expunction of qualifying criminal records. When granted and fully processed, an expunction is substantially different from merely hiding a public search result.
Order of nondisclosure
A nondisclosure order restricts public disclosure of an eligible criminal-history record, but specified criminal-justice and authorized government access can remain.
Dismissed does not automatically mean expunged. A dismissal, no-bill or completed disposition must be analyzed under the specific Texas eligibility rule before a petition is filed.

Obtain the certified disposition
Determine whether each count was dismissed, no-billed, acquitted, deferred, convicted or resolved another way.
Check expunction eligibility under current Chapter 55A
Eligibility depends on the precise statutory route and procedural history.
Check nondisclosure separately
Texas Judicial Branch publishes different instructions and model forms for the various Government Code nondisclosure provisions.
Open current Texas nondisclosure forms
Identify the correct Grayson County court
The filing location depends on the case and the particular relief requested.
Ask the correct clerk for current filing and service costs
Do not use an old online fee amount for a 2026 filing.
File all required documents and notices
Follow the current statute and court instructions precisely.
Attend a hearing when required
Bring certified records and any other required evidence.
Keep certified copies of the signed order
These may be needed when following up with DPS or disputing a third-party report.
Verify the databases after processing
Check the county search, court record and Texas DPS record after the order has been implemented.
Texas DPS notes that it cannot directly force every third-party criminal-history website to correct information, although Texas law provides remedies concerning inaccurate data and records subject to expunction or nondisclosure.
Court fines are not bail
Use Sheriff’s Collections only for assessed court fines and costs
The Sheriff’s Collections Section handles fines and costs assessed by Grayson County criminal courts. It is not the same system as jail commissary deposits or arranging release on a new arrest.
