Start with the legal surname
Avoid adding too many fields when a middle name or suffix may be uncertain.
Open every plausible match
Similar names can belong to different people.

Keep it for mail, deposits, visitation and jail-service questions.
Read every criminal charge
One person can have multiple charges or cases.
Read the bond information

Troubleshooting
No Henry County inmate record found?
The booking is still underway
Identification, medical screening and intake can delay public appearance.
The person was already released
A current inmate database may not function as a complete historical arrest archive.
The arrest did not require jail detention
A citation, summons or other release procedure may create a court case without prolonged jail custody.
The arrest occurred in another county
Search the actual booking jurisdiction.
The name was recorded differently
Try a maiden name, alias, suffix or alternate spelling.
The person was transferred
Check another county, Georgia DOC or another agency when appropriate.
The court case is newer than the public index
Allow time for filing and docket entry.
The record has been restricted
Legally restricted history may not appear for ordinary public purposes.
Missing-inmate call script
I am trying to confirm the current custody status of [full legal name], date of birth [date if known]. The arrest may have occurred on [date] through [agency]. Can you confirm whether the person is still processing, currently held, released or transferred?

Do not use property owned by the inmate
HCSO prohibits using property as a property bond when the defendant is listed as an owner.

Georgia record restriction
Restrict an eligible Henry County arrest record
Georgia calls this process record restriction. Restriction limits disclosure of qualifying criminal-history information for ordinary non-criminal-justice purposes. It does not automatically erase every newspaper story, screenshot or independently stored private copy.
Arrest on or after July 1, 2013
- No old GBI paper application is required to begin.
- Contact the appropriate prosecutor.
- The prosecutor determines whether the charge qualifies.
- Approved restrictions can be transmitted to GCIC.
Arrest before July 1, 2013
- Start with the arresting agency.
- Use the GBI Request to Restrict Arrest Record form.
- Applicant completes Section One.
- Arresting agency completes Section Two.
- Prosecutor approves or denies Section Three.
Get your current Georgia criminal history first
Verify that every Henry County arrest has the correct final disposition.
Find the exact arrest date and arresting agency
The restriction process is tied to a specific arrest cycle.
Obtain the court disposition
Correct any missing or wrong disposition before applying.
For a post-July 2013 arrest, contact the prosecutor
Felony matters are handled by the Henry County District Attorney; misdemeanor matters may involve the Solicitor General.
For an older arrest, submit the restriction form to the arresting agency
The agency completes its portion and sends the request to the prosecutor.
Wait for prosecutor approval or denial
A qualifying non-conviction disposition does not mean the applicant can skip prosecutor review.
Complete GCIC processing when the instructions require it
Follow the current fee and mailing instructions provided by GBI.
Verify the restriction afterward
Recheck the Georgia criminal history and local public sources.
GBI identifies examples of potentially qualifying final outcomes such as dismissal, not presented to grand jury, no further action anticipated, nolle prosequi, dead docket and no record on file. A guilty disposition is not eligible under the ordinary arrest-record restriction route described by GBI.
