Arrest is not conviction. Jail charges describe allegations associated with custody. Prosecutors can decline, amend or dismiss charges, and a court can acquit a defendant. Always check the court disposition.
Current custody
Use the Sheriff Inmate Lookup.
Old jail records
Request through PCADC Jail Records.
Misdemeanor cases
Justice Court search is free.
Felony cases
Use Superior Court / Arizona Public Access.
Choose the right record
One Pima County arrest can create four separate records
SHERIFF JAIL
Is the person held now?
Current custody, booking number, housing or pod information and jail identifiers.
Best starting point after a recent Tucson-area arrest.
ARRESTING AGENCY
What did officers report?
The arrest or incident report belongs to the Sheriff, Tucson Police, DPS or other agency that created it.
Jail custody does not transfer ownership of the police report.
JUSTICE / CITY COURT
Is it a misdemeanor?
Justice Court handles qualifying limited-jurisdiction criminal cases. Tucson City Court handles many Tucson municipal matters.
Justice Court felony information is not displayed in its public case search.
SUPERIOR COURT
Is it a felony?
Superior Court handles felony criminal cases and provides the controlling court disposition.
Use the case number whenever possible.
Current Pima County custody
Search someone currently held in Pima County Jail
Pima County Sheriff provides detention services for law-enforcement agencies throughout metropolitan Tucson and Pima County. A person booked into the county detention system may therefore have been arrested by PCSD, Tucson Police, another municipal agency or another law-enforcement office.
Search the legal name
Try the last name first when spelling, middle names or suffixes are uncertain.
Open every plausible match
Same-name records can belong to different people.
Save the name number
Pima County uses this identifier for services including inmate telephone accounts.
Save the booking number
Jail Records, mail and other detention services can require it.
Record the pod or housing location
Personal mail and visitation depend on current housing information.
Check every charge and bond line
Do not assume one bond amount clears another case or hold.
Identify the arresting agency
That office normally controls the original incident or arrest report.
Continue to court records
Search the Justice Court, Tucson City Court or Superior Court record for the formal disposition.

Add former names when applicable.
Add the date of birth
This helps Jail Records distinguish same-name people.
Add the name number or booking number
Either identifier substantially narrows the search.
Add the approximate incarceration dates
A narrow date range reduces unnecessary retrieval work.
Name the exact record needed
Examples: booking record, jail report, release information or specifically identified detention record.

Correction is not sealing. Correct a record when a fact is wrong. Use a sealing or set-aside process when the record is accurate but qualifies for legal relief.
Arizona record relief
Set aside, seal or expunge: choose the correct Arizona process
Set aside
Changes the status of an eligible conviction after sentence requirements are completed. It does not seal or erase the public record.
Seal case records
ARS §13-911 can restrict qualifying arrest, charging, conviction and sentence records held by criminal-justice agencies.
Marijuana expungement
A separate Arizona procedure exists for qualifying marijuana-related offenses.
Pima Justice Court set-aside
Pima County Consolidated Justice Court allows a person convicted in that court to submit an online set-aside request after completing the sentence, required classes and financial obligations. The court states that there is no charge for its online set-aside service.
A set-aside does not seal or expunge the case. The public record remains accessible but shows that the judgment was set aside.
Arizona criminal case sealing under ARS §13-911
Arizona permits eligible people arrested, charged, convicted or sentenced before, on or after December 31, 2022 to petition to seal qualifying criminal case records.
Convicted person after qualifying requirements and waiting period
Charge dismissed
Not guilty at trial
Arrested but charges were never filed

Some serious, violent, dangerous, weapon-related, serious-injury and specified sexual offenses are excluded from ARS §13-911 sealing. Eligibility must be checked against the current statute before filing.
If a sealing petition is denied on the merits, Arizona’s current guidance generally requires a three-year wait before another petition under ARS §13-911. A dismissal for filing in the wrong court or insufficient information is treated differently.
