New July 1, 2026 Recovery Court Renewal Act
Successful certified recovery-court completion can matter
Public Chapter 1061 created another petition route effective July 1, 2026 for an offense otherwise eligible for expunction when the petitioner successfully completed a certified recovery court program and the statutory requirements are met. The 2026 amendment excludes offenses involving a motor vehicle and the use of alcohol or a controlled substance from this particular new route.
Tennessee Courts currently warns that its general expungement information is being updated to reflect recent changes to T.C.A. §40-32-101. For a conviction or recovery-court case, verify eligibility with the Sumner County Clerk, District Attorney or a Tennessee lawyer before paying fees.
