Record the TDCJ number and facility

TDCJ custody data is not a certified disposition.
Texas DPS criminal history
Use DPS for statewide criminal-history information
Guadalupe County District Clerk’s official notice specifically states that it no longer performs criminal background searches. Statewide criminal-history work is routed to Texas DPS.
Public name-based search
- Uses the Texas DPS Crime Records public site.
- Requires an account and search credits.
- Current online credits cost $1 each.
- Credit-card purchases add published transaction charges.
- Name matching can return the wrong person or miss the correct record.
Fingerprint-based personal review
- More accurate identity matching.
- DPS publishes a $15 criminal-history fee.
- FAST fingerprint service adds the applicable fingerprint charge.
- Best route when checking or challenging your own record.
Texas DPS explains that fingerprint searches are more accurate than name-based searches because name searches can match a person with a similar name or fail to match the intended person.
Error resolution
Correct an inaccurate Guadalupe County or Texas criminal record
Identify where the error appears
Compare the jail record, Sheriff’s report, court case and DPS history.
Save the disputed identifiers
Record SO number, report number, case number and the incorrect field.
Correct the originating record first
Police errors belong with the arresting agency; court errors belong with the Clerk/court.
Obtain certified court proof
DPS requires supporting certified documents when resolving criminal-history errors.
Recheck the record after processing
Confirm the corrected disposition appears.
Misused identity is different from a normal data error. Texas DPS maintains a separate process when another arrested person falsely used your identifying information.
Texas expunction
Follow Guadalupe County’s local expunction path
Expunction eligibility is strictly case-specific under Texas law. A dismissal does not automatically mean every arrest qualifies.
Published filing fee
The District Clerk’s current posted schedule lists an expunction filing fee of $350.
Entity service
The posted schedule lists $16.38 per entity for mailed notice/order or $3 per entity when hand-carried.
Acquittal exception
The local schedule states no filing fee when filed within 30 days of acquittal.
Obtain your Texas criminal history

Determine whether Chapter 55 applies
Expunction is not available for every dismissal, deferred case or conviction.

Include all agencies holding the record
Guadalupe County warns its list is not necessarily exhaustive.
File with the Guadalupe County District Clerk
Follow the current filing and service instructions.
Attend any required hearing

Obtain the signed expunction order
Keep certified copies.
Verify every agency received the order
Recheck Sheriff, Clerks and DPS after processing.

Guadalupe County Attorney
Guadalupe County Sheriff
Guadalupe County Magistrate Office
Guadalupe County Adult Probation
Texas Office of Court Administration
Texas Department of Criminal Justice
Texas Department of Public Safety
Order of nondisclosure
Do not confuse nondisclosure with expunction
Expunction
When legally granted, qualifying arrest and court records are removed or destroyed under Chapter 55.
Nondisclosure
Restricts public disclosure of qualifying criminal-history information but does not destroy the record and does not block every authorized agency.
Guadalupe County’s currently posted District Clerk fee schedule lists a $350 petition-for-nondisclosure filing fee and states that the separate $28 fee is no longer charged.
Confirm the exact disposition
Deferred adjudication and other case outcomes can have different eligibility rules.
Check the Texas nondisclosure statute
Not every offense qualifies.
Use the court that handled the qualifying case
The correct filing location depends on the original prosecution.
Keep the signed nondisclosure order
Use it when disputing later public dissemination.
