Which St. Tammany record answers your question?

JAIL ROSTER Is the person in custody?

Use the current roster for a person held in the St. Tammany Parish detention system.

Best for booking identity, charges, bond and custody status.
48-HOUR RELEASE Was the person just released?

The Sheriff provides a separate list of people released during the prior 48 hours.

Release does not mean the criminal case was dismissed.
POLICE / SHERIFF What did officers report?

Request the incident report, arrest report and releasable supplements from the arresting agency.

The jail is not always the agency that wrote the police report.
CLERK OF COURT What did prosecutors file?

Search the court case for charges, hearings, orders, dismissal, plea, judgment and sentence.

Use the court disposition to interpret the arrest correctly.

Official custody search

Search current St. Tammany Parish inmates

Open the St. Tammany jail roster The roster is provided for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and connects with Louisiana victim-notification services. Run the current-inmate search
Start with the last name A surname-first search reduces the risk of excluding the correct result because of a middle name, suffix or alternate spelling.
Open every plausible result Never assume the first matching name is the correct person.
Compare the booking identifiers Record the booking number, booking date, age or birth information, arresting agency and custody information when displayed.
Read every charge separately One booking can contain several allegations, warrants or agency holds.
Check every bond entry A bond amount attached to one charge does not necessarily clear another charge or detainer.
Save the arresting agency The agency listed with the arrest determines where the incident or arrest report should normally be requested.
Continue to the criminal court record Use the court case to determine whether the booking charge was filed, changed or dismissed.
Best evidence chain: booking number → arresting agency → agency report number → court docket number → certified disposition.
Recent releases

Find someone who no longer appears in current custody

The Sheriff’s Public Records Center identifies two separate jail tools: Current Inmates and a 48 Hour Release List showing people released from the St. Tammany Parish detention facility during the prior 48 hours.
Check Current Inmates first Make sure the person was not simply moved to a different housing unit.
Open the 48 Hour Release option Use the Sheriff jail-roster resources to switch from current custody to recent releases. Open the roster system
Match the same booking event Compare the name, booking number, arrest date and charges.
Do not interpret release as dismissal Release may follow bond, a court order, time served, a transfer or another custody action.
Search the court docket next Confirm the next appearance and disposition even when the person has already left jail.
Request older booking information when necessary If the event is no longer available through live jail tools, use the Sheriff’s Public Records Center.
Booking decoder

What the St. Tammany arrest fields actually mean

Do not confuse booking information with a final court finding
Field Meaning What it does not prove Next action
Booking number A specific jail intake or custody event. The final criminal charge. Use it for jail and records questions.
Booking date When detention processing was recorded. The exact time of the alleged offense. Compare with the police incident date.
Arresting agency The department responsible for the arrest. The Sheriff wrote the police narrative. Request the report from that agency.
Booking charge An allegation recorded during arrest or intake. The District Attorney filed that exact charge. Read the court charging documents.
Bond amount A release-security amount associated with a charge or order. Payment automatically clears the booking. Confirm every hold with the Bond Office.
Hold or detainer Another court or agency may control release. The local bond controls the entire custody status. Identify the agency that owns the hold.
Release date The displayed custody event ended. Dismissal, acquittal or innocence. Search the criminal court docket.
Mugshot A photograph taken during booking. Guilt or even identity by itself. Match name, age and official numbers.
Identity safeguard

Verify the right person before relying on a record

Full first and last name match
Middle name, alias or suffix is consistent
Age or birth information matches
Booking date matches the known incident
Arresting agency matches the location
Booking number matches another source
Court docket follows the same arrest
Charges and incident timeline are consistent
Minimum standard: Match at least two independent identifiers before publishing an accusation, sending money, contacting an employer or treating a booking as belonging to a specific person.

Sheriff public records

Request an arrest or incident report efficiently

Confirm the Sheriff owns the record Check the arresting-agency field before sending a request.
Open the STPSO Public Records Center The portal lets requesters submit a request, return to an existing request and receive released documents. Open the Sheriff Public Records Center
Choose the enforcement or criminal-history category that matches the request Do not request an entire file when only one report is needed.
Identify the exact record Examples include arrest report, incident report, probable-cause narrative, booking record or identified supplement.
Add all known identifiers Include the full name, approximate birth date, arrest date, location, booking number, report number and court docket number.
Ask for electronic production Electronic delivery is easier to track and can reduce unnecessary copying.
Ask for a cost estimate before a large request State a dollar limit beyond which you want approval before processing continues.
Track the request through the portal Return to My Request Center instead of starting duplicate requests.
Copy-ready Sheriff records request
I request an electronic copy of the releasable arrest report, incident report, probable-cause narrative and identified supplements concerning [full legal name] for the event on or about [date] at [location]. Sign in or register Use existing eFileLA credentials or select Register when you do not already have an account.
Open Search from the dashboard Choose Cases when searching for a criminal case rather than an individual document or hearing.
Enter the docket number when known A docket number is safer than a common-name search.
Otherwise search the defendant name Use filters for location, case category, case type and case status to reduce unrelated matches.
Open Case Details The system can display the case number, case type, parties, attorneys, judicial officer, filings, documents and available hearings.
Compare the formal charges with the booking The charge appearing in jail is not automatically the charge prosecuted in court.
Read later filings and orders Check amendments, motions, warrants, dismissal entries, plea documents, judgment and sentencing.
Buy the exact court document only when needed From Case Details, add the document to the shopping cart, complete the purchase and return to the case to open it.

Wait until the booking is created A bond inquiry made immediately after an arrest may be too early.
Obtain the booking number Match the full name and arrest event before discussing money.
List every charge and hold One booking can contain several separate release conditions.
Call the STPSO Bond Office The 22nd JDC directs bond inquiries to 985-274-1070.

Obtain your Right to Review Identify the exact St. Tammany arrest that is wrong or incomplete.
Find the matching St. Tammany court case Match the full name, date of birth, arrest date and original charges.
Obtain an original certified disposition Louisiana State Police requires certified disposition documentation from the court or District Attorney.
Make sure the arrest date matches State Police says the arrest or booking date in the documentation must match within one day of the state criminal-history entry.
Include every original booking charge If the arrest contained several charges, obtain a final outcome for each charge.
Include amendments or reductions If prosecutors changed the charge, provide both the original charge and the final disposition information.
Verify the state record again Obtain a new Right to Review when formal proof of the correction is needed.
Correction is different from expungement. Correction fixes data that is inaccurate or incomplete. Expungement restricts access to an otherwise valid record when Louisiana law permits it.
Louisiana expungement

Prepare a St. Tammany arrest-record expungement correctly

Expungement eligibility depends on the charge, disposition, prior record, waiting requirements and Louisiana law. A dismissed charge is not automatically the same as a completed expungement.
Obtain a Louisiana Right to Review first Louisiana State Police strongly recommends using the fingerprint-based state record before preparing the motion. Open official Louisiana expungement instructions
Match the state arrest date exactly Louisiana State Police warns that the date on the state rap sheet is the date fingerprints were collected. Use that date when identifying the arrest for expungement.
Use the original booking charge List the original arrest charge even when it was later reduced or amended.
Include every count All counts connected to the booking should be addressed.
Obtain the St. Tammany dispositions Get certified documentation showing how every count ended.
Download the current forms The Clerk Criminal Department links the Louisiana expungement forms and local filing information. Open St. Tammany expungement resources
Complete the motion and order consistently If a motion is amended, make sure the proposed order is also corrected when necessary.
Attach all required documents Examples can include dispositions, District Attorney certifications and a statutory fee-waiver form when applicable.
File with the St. Tammany Clerk of Court Expungement documents begin with the Clerk in the parish of the arrest or conviction.
Keep the signed expungement order The court order is what directs agencies to process the expungement according to Louisiana law.

Published St. Tammany expungement fee components

Amounts listed on the St. Tammany Criminal Department fee schedule
Payee Published amount Important note
St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court $200 Local Clerk expungement component.
Louisiana State Police / BCII $250 State Police specifies a $250 money order when the fee applies.
St. Tammany Parish District Attorney $50 Separate payee listed by the Clerk.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff $50 Separate Sheriff component.
Base listed components $550 total Before any additional DWI-related charge or incidental cost and before any valid fee waiver.
The Clerk’s fee sheet lists additional Office of Motor Vehicles charges for specified DWI expungements. Louisiana State Police also explains that some applicants may qualify for a statutory fee waiver; eligibility restrictions apply.
Common reason for rejection: Using only the amended court charge instead of the original booking charge, omitting one count, using the wrong arrest date or failing to attach the required disposition.
