Initial court hearing
Understand the Paulding County first appearance
Paulding County’s Magistrate Court currently publishes first appearances generally for Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m. Because the time can change, the court instructs people to confirm the schedule the day before.
Confirm the inmate is still in custody
A release before the hearing can change what happens next.
Call the day before if you plan to attend
The court warns that the time and presiding judge can vary.
Understand what happens
The judge advises the defendant of the filed charges and considers whether bond will be set.
Do not treat first appearance as the final case result
The criminal case continues after this hearing.
When courthouse operations are disrupted, first appearance can be conducted from the detention center. Always verify the location and time before traveling.

Identify every charge and hold
One bond does not necessarily clear an unrelated warrant or detainer.

Use Georgia DOC after a state-prison transfer
Use Georgia DOC when
- The person received a qualifying state sentence.
- The person was transferred out of Paulding County Jail.
- You need the current state institution.
- You have a Georgia DOC identifier.
Do not use Georgia DOC alone for
- A brand-new Paulding County arrest.
- A pretrial county detainee.
- The official criminal disposition.
- A complete Georgia criminal history.
Use an ID number when known
This is safer than relying only on a common name.
Record the current facility
State-prison visitation, mail and communication rules depend on the institution.
Return to Paulding County court records for legal proof
The state locator does not replace the judgment or sentencing order.

Record the arrest date, booking number, case number, State Identification Number or Offender Tracking Number if available.
Obtain the controlling document
Use a corrected agency report or certified court disposition.
Correct arrest data through the submitting law-enforcement agency
GCIC cannot simply rewrite a local agency’s arrest information without appropriate agency documentation.
Correct a missing court disposition through the Clerk or prosecutor
Courts and prosecutors can transmit updates to Georgia’s statewide criminal-history system.

Correction and restriction are different. Correction fixes information that is wrong or incomplete. Record restriction limits dissemination of a qualifying arrest cycle that is otherwise accurate.
Georgia record restriction
Restrict an eligible Paulding County arrest record
Georgia record restriction generally prevents a qualifying arrest cycle from being released to private persons and businesses through ordinary Georgia criminal-history dissemination, while criminal-justice agencies retain authorized access.
The arrest date controls the starting procedure. Georgia changed the restriction process on July 1, 2013.
Arrest after July 1, 2013
GBI says there is no old-style application process. Contact the prosecutor handling the case and request restriction when the disposition qualifies.
Arrest before July 1, 2013
Use the legacy Request to Restrict Arrest Record application and begin with the arresting law-enforcement agency.
Examples of dispositions GBI identifies as potentially qualifying
Dismissed
Not presented to grand jury
No further action anticipated
Nolle prosequi
Dead docket in qualifying circumstances
No record on file in qualifying circumstances
A guilty disposition is not eligible for ordinary arrest-record restriction merely because time has passed. First Offender, sealing and other Georgia remedies follow separate rules.
Obtain your Georgia criminal history
Confirm the exact arrest date, agency, charges and dispositions.
Search the court case
Make sure every charge has a correct final disposition before requesting restriction.
Fix missing or incorrect dispositions first
Contact the Clerk when the court result does not appear correctly.
Determine whether the arrest occurred before or after July 1, 2013
Do not automatically use the legacy application for a newer arrest.
For newer arrests, contact the appropriate prosecutor
State Court misdemeanor matters and Superior Court matters can involve different prosecuting offices.
Wait for prosecutor approval or denial
Restriction is not automatic simply because an application is submitted.
Verify GCIC after processing
Check the Georgia criminal history again when you need proof that restriction was applied.

Paulding’s local page says it accepts cash or credit card for its restriction service, does not accept bills larger than $20, and requires at least a $5 transaction for credit-card payments. Because post-July 1, 2013 arrests use the newer prosecutor-driven process, confirm the correct route first.
